Altar Servers

The position of Altar Server is one of service and responsibility. The honored and long-standing tradition in the church is that the altar server assists not only the presider at Mass but also all the people of God who come to worship.
Altar servers must be parish members at least 10 years old or in the fourth grade or above. Potential servers must be responsible, punctual, and committed to keeping to their scheduled Masses. Ideally, altar servers will be flexible and willing to serve at whatever Masses may be assigned. Formation for new servers is offered at least once in the fall of the year, usually composed of two sessions of about 1 1/2 hours each. Refresher courses are offered as necessary for returning servers.
Adult servers take turns serving at the 9:00 a.m. weekday Masses, some holyday Masses, and funerals. This ministry is open to both men and women and training is provided.For more information, please contact Susan Campbell, Pastoral Associate, at 313-278-5555, or [email protected].
