Hello, my name is Cat and this is my third mission trip and I attend Divine Child High. This week I was working at the Champaign Community Center/ Public Health Center. The center has a food pantry for the hungry, gives glasses to those who can't see very well, gives food to the migrant workers that work in Champaign. This community center needed their bathrooms, hallways, and waiting area painted, so my group painted. The most difficult task was painting the ceiling because you had to paint in an awkward direction. My group was an all-girl group that had five people in it, so with so much to paint, we had to crank through it. Fr. Jeff gave us five truths of life in his homilies and he gave us one truth per Mass. I learned that we should keeps these truths in mind when working and when we get back home. Evening program is a fun-filled night that consists of prayer, praise, worship, fun games, and Catholic trivia. My favorite part of program is when the Carpenter Commandos come out and they get the whole crowd all cheered up. My least favorite part of camp was the date because I didn't like how our free day was at the beginning, because I like the feeling of accomplishment when you do hard work then relax, not the other way around. But to me there was no favorite part of mission trip because every second and moment was amazing. I cannot tell you or give you the feeling of mission trip unless you experience it personally and that's why I encourage everyone come, because it's a life changing week that you will NEVER forget.
